This story was ok, but I didn't think it was "mind-bending" or really scary. In the story line the main character goes through a sort of a metamorphisis in allowing nature to take it's course of healing. The pieces chosen are very widely known chestnuts of classical music, and as another reviewer wrote, it does not cover the entirety of the piece. Nicely paced with a gentle easy flow which is sort of meditative in it's rhythm, the close of each chapter acts as an end of another trip and the start of a new one, both physically and mentally. Still, she yearned to see that identity reflected in the larger American narrative. Most books about survival and outdoor skills don’t become “bestsellers”. She knew it would take some time for her to accept herself, but she was willing to try, and that seemed like a realistic response from her. Luckily, Monson finds fast friendship in two of his classmates, Casey and Artorius. I never knew there was so much more to the story. Let me begin by saying this not the kind of book I normally read. More Harry Hole than Department Q, these books stay with you.
